Supply Chain Policy

How Tanganyika Minerals Ltd sources 3T minerals responsibly, avoids conflict minerals and manages supply chain risk.

Tanganyika Minerals Ltd believes it is essential to establish validated, conflict-free sources of the 3T minerals, so that they can be procured in a way that contributes to the economic growth of the region. We are committed to responsible mineral supply chains that avoid contributing to conflict, human rights abuses or other risks.

We are a full participating member of the iTSCi Membership Programme, which allows us to exclude conflict minerals and metals from our supply. We support sustainable solutions to the problem of conflict minerals based on cooperation, monitoring of minerals and transparency of the global supply chain.

The ITSCI Programme for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains is an award-winning multi-stakeholder programme. Its traceability scheme helps companies conform with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance and comply with the requirements of the Dodd-Frank Act.

OECD five-step framework

01

Establish strong company management systems.

02

Identify and assess risk in the supply chain.

03

Design and implement a strategy to respond to identified risks.

04

Carry out an independent third-party audit of supply chain due diligence at identified points in the supply chain.

05

Report on supply chain due diligence.

Sourcing and traceability

We trade tin, tantalum and tungsten minerals sourced in Burundi. All concentrates purchased by our company are obtained through the iTSCi scheme and therefore in accordance with internationally recognised due diligence guidance. Our personnel are informed about the US Dodd-Frank Act and the due diligence guidance of the OECD and the UN, and we take all reasonable steps to comply with applicable regulations. All our contracts include a specific paragraph on due diligence.

We purchase materials only from reputable suppliers with whom relations are well established, or for whom adequate due diligence can be carried out. Deliveries can be tin ore (concentrate), tin metal, tantalum concentrates or wolframite concentrates. We use supply chain traceability schemes such as iTSCi tagging to ensure transparency.

Risk management

Tanganyika Minerals Ltd aims to offer its customers and trading partners conflict-free metals and products, so that end users can be sure their products are made from conflict-free metals. We apply a risk management strategy as defined by the OECD Guidance and track the performance of risk mitigation. This strategy includes suspending or discontinuing supplies if unacceptable practices are identified.
